Regulation of safety is among the critical obligations of a government. The horizons of government regulations are vast as it reaches all sectors of the economy that impact people’s daily livelihood. Regulating safety is paramount as some malicious individuals focus too much on making an income to the extent of putting the public’s safety at risk. In the business realm, government regulations help maintain safe and healthy working conditions. Through the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the government supervises workplace safety and ensures that all businesses are aware and adhere to the regulations that apply to them (Nelson 2020). The government has bodies in every sector of the economy to ensure parties act ethically and do not cause harm to the public. To ensure people comply with safety regulations, the government has initiated penalties to punish those who do the contrary.
The government ought to evenly regulate all sectors in the economy because they influence the public’s wellbeing. The transportation industry is a public utility and should not have loopholes that put users’ safety at peril. Criminals use the modes of transport to move their illegal products from one place to another. Owing to this reason, the government has had to be stricter in enhancing safety in the transportation industry. For instance, there are road checks all over to scrutinize and monitor the entry of individuals into states. In the airports, travelers have to undergo intense security checks, all in the name of fostering security and safety. Considering the trouble travelers have to undergo whenever they move from one location to another, it is correct to conclude that the burden of compliance and regulation is overly cumbersome to the transportation industry.
